Writing in the evening again…I don’t know why I keep almost forgetting. I guess it’s because I’m not on a real schedule. I don’t have classes I have to be at Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 8am until 11:50 am. Nor do I have a cafeteria that is only open a few hours for each meal. Nor have I really even used my planner lately. But, all of that is going to change very soon. Order shall be restored and stress shall come along too.
I went shopping today. I had a good Walmart run and got a number of things that I’ll be needing. I wrote about some of the things I needed here. Included in my haul (okay it was two bags) are a bath towel, shampoo, and a new planner.
I’ve still got stuff to do. In the post I linked to above I talk about my to do list. On that list I have “get my hair cut”. I’ll either do that tomorrow or Monday. Then I also have to get a holy water container as I’m bringing a holy water font back to school to hang in my dorm (yes we’re just that Catholic).
This week I volunteered at a Catholic VBS. I was in charge of the 2nd and 3rd graders and had some teen helpers. If you remember I was a little, uneasy, shall we say. But I think it went okay. Sure, my kids were difficult at times but they weren’t all that bad at all. Just a bit…spirited. Some of them anyways (pretty much entirely the boys). There was one little girl however who was kind of excited and memorized the daily Bible verses, prayers, and saints, earning her stickers and prizes.
At the end of the week (Thursday night) we had an ice cream social. I thanked one of my volunteers. She was about 12 but a great helper, attentive, devoted, and pretty good with the kids. She then told me I was a good leader and organized. So I guess I must have done something right. 🙂
On Tuesday I leave for Colorado. I’m meeting my roommate out there so we can road trip together to Kansas. While I’m there she’s going to show me around some of the sights. We’re taking a train up Pike’s Peak, and going to visit Garden of the gods. She wants to make sure I see red dirt 😉 For a flat-living girl like me who’s never been to the southwest I’m sure it will be quite the experience. Then that night we might be having a bonfire and her family’s going to order a big pizza called “the beast” from their favorite place.
Back to campus. The next morning, my roommate and I will leave for Kansas. But we won’t get back to campus or move into our dorm until Friday. We’ll first spend two days at a retreat with other members of campus ministry. I’m excited about my position with them and I just can’t wait to be back at the best college on earth! See you in a week Benedictine College!
